The Top 100 SA Wine Challenge is now in its second year and is judged by an impressive panel of local and international judges with just over 400 wines entered this year. Boschendal Grande Cuvée Brut 2007 is one of only 3 Méthode Cap Classique sparkling wines that made the list.
Boschendal winemaker, Lizelle Gerber says, “It’s encouraging to have diverse local and international experts consistently rate our Cap Classique so highly confirming our ambition to make a classic bottle fermented bubbly that expresses its vintage character as well as Boschendal’s trademark style.” The 2007 Grande Cuvée is a blend of traditional varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with a gentle cascade of graceful bubbles that explode in plentiful yellow fruit, roast nuts and almond biscotti supported by citrus fruit intricacy and a discreet minerality that freshens up beautifully to a balanced seamless finish. “It’s just getting better in the bottle offering amazing complexity and stylish opulence that is easy on the palate yet still rewarding and interesting,” adds Lizelle.
Boschendal Grande Cuvée Brut 2007 is available from Liquor Retailers and Supermarkets around South Africa at an average retail price of R120.
