Press Release- Boschendal Bubbly is a Classic Best
Boschendal is the Classic Wine Trophy Champion in the Sparkling Wine category with their celebrated Grande Cuvée Brut 2007 vintage Cap Classique.
“Recognition from this panel of French judges for our Cap Classique is the ultimate compliment!” says delighted Boschendal bubbly winemaker, Lizelle Gerber. “Producing a copycat of champagne has never been my goal. I believe in using traditional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varieties to carefully construct a base wine that is given patience and time to slowly develop classic bottle fermentation characteristics in a unique expression that captures Boschendal and the vintage. It’s really a proud South African Cap Classique.”
The 14thClassic Wine Trophy was judged in Cape Town over the first week of March. This is a unique contest judged exclusively by an expert panel of French winemakers, consultants, writers and journalists. Their careful scrutiny of each category adjudicates South African wines according to classic quality criteria including elegance, balance, finesse and potential.
