Boschendal Shines at the Six Nations Wine Challenge Awards

2018 Gold for Jean le Long Prestige Cuvée 2008

Boschendal is proud to announce that its Jean le Long Prestige Cuvée 2008 has won gold in the coveted Six Nations Wine Challenge. This exquisite cuvée is made from Chardonnay grapes which are exclusively selected from high altitude cool vineyards – giving it a rare and ultra-premium quality that sets it apart from wines the world over.

The challenge between Australia, Canada, Chile, New Zealand, South Africa and the USA sees a highly prestigious judge from each country each selecting 100 wines to enter into the challenge. South Africa’s 2018 judge was Michael Fridjhon.

Shirley van Wyk, marketing manager at Boschendal wines says the competition was extremely fierce, with only 130 wines being awarded gold, “including Boschendal’s most luxurious Cuvée”.

“Congratulations to our white wine and MCC winemaker, Lizelle Gerber and her team for shining against some of the world’s most celebrated wines and wine estates. It is a strong indictment of the quality of our estate’s wines.”

Jean le Long Prestige Cuvée 2008 has a seductive pale gold colour, with a flourish of tiny bubbles which capture the imagination immediately, followed by enticing lemon cream, beeswax, pink grapefruit and toasty brioche aromas that persist onto an intricate palate. The beautiful citrus core of lemon and orange zest opens up, along with rich roast nuts and flattering minerality finishing with extraordinary length and freshness.

The Cap Classique, which is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes is best paired with rich seafood such as seared scallops, grilled lobster and seafood risotto. It also goes well with terrines, jambon and aged hard cheeses.
